Morca cave, Taseli Turkey. Expedition led by Aspeg

In August of 2019, The C.E.S. will join ASPEG and 5 other grottos to explore Morca Cave near Anamur, Turkey. We provided additional equipment for the expedition: Raumer Stick-Up for aid climbing, 9mm and 10mm rope, carabiners, stainless steel maillons and stainless steel hangers.

As of the 27th of August the cave is 1,107m deep and still going deeper; thanks to Ender’s, Umit’s and Mert’s herculean efforts. According to Caver Bob that puts Morca as the 74th deepest cave in the word. We expect that figure to change by September, 2019, because a team led by Teo, from Bulgaria, is currently pushing the cave deeper. At least 2 side galleries were discovered below 919m, one of which is decorated in fossils.

A mobile camp was set up at a depth of ~825m, and the camp at -500m has been restocked. As the cave progresses we are looking for a permanent camp location below -1,000m.
